
Where is it?
The hut is located in the “Hengill” area, few km off the ring road (road #1) between Reykjavik and Hveragerdi. It only takes about 30 minutes to access the hut with a car from Reykjavik. When booking the hut, we will provide very detailed information about the huts location and how to get there.

Traveling with a 4×4
If you travel with a 4×4 off-road vehicle, with raised ground clearance and four-wheel drive then you can expect to be able to drive all the way to the hut. The last 500 meters (1500 ft) is a bit tricky and will challenge your off road driving skills but is doable for most people,
Access with a car is possible from May to October.

Standard cars & SUV
You can drive regular cars up to about 500 meters (1500 feet) from the hut, then park and walk the short distance remaining. If you have an SUV, you can get even closer, usually within about 150 meters (450 feet) of the hut. From there, it’s just a brief hike up a hill to reach the hut.
Access with a car is possible from May to October.

Hiking, Biking, Skiing!
You can also hike or bike to the hut, as there are several excellent trails in the area for both activities. During the winter, the hut is accessible by cross-country skis. Overall, the hut offers a fantastic chance for an overnight stay, providing a cozy base for your activities throughout the year.

Need a car?
We offer a classic Land Rover Defender car rental so you can drive all the way to the hut with all your gear. It is possible to rent the hut and the car together in one package, therefore saving money instead of doing this separately.
